Facilitating Grief
Ritual & Group Process

I facilitate a variety of grief capacity-building workshops for helping professionals, teams, and communities to learn practical, trauma-informed, heart-centered and resiliency-aware approaches to healing and grieving through difficult times.
"I felt instantly welcomed by Shauna's warm presence and her approach to supporting others through grief is refreshing and much needed on our society. With so many helpful take-aways, I feel more more prepared to support others."  Amber Rowse-Robinson, volunteer
I provide grief ritual and group process to engage participants experientially in personal reflection, support, and connection, using a variety of therapeutic facilitation processes, somatic awareness practices, and ritual healing modalities.
"I came into the space with enormous fear around having to express my emotions around my grief, and found instead it was not scary or painful due to the way it was facilitated. I was able to recognize that I need further support and gained some incredible new tools in the process." Coralee F - participant in Grief and Recovery workshop
I have been delivering healing and educational workshops, trainings, and group process since 2010.  Audiences have included non-profit organizations, government, First Nation bands and organizations, educational institutions, community events, school district counseling teams, multi-faith groups, and environmental activists. I teach both locally on Vancouver Island and throughout BC, and internationally. I am also currently a trainer and mentor with BC Bereavement Helpline.  and was the Executive Director and lead program facilitator with Learning Through Loss for 12 years (2007-2019).

Facilitating Grief - Ritual Skills and Community Practices

A three day educational and experiential workshop to learn the skills of meaningful grief expression and healing rituals for grieving. The workshop is trauma-aware, somatics-based, culturally-inclusive, and animist-informed with a mix of teaching, experiential process, ritual healing, and personal and collective inquiry. This workshop offers a grief-tending framework that is relevant to supporting diverse loss contexts. People of diverse ancestral backgrounds, faith-based traditions and lived experiences are welcome. The workshop is delivered within a ritual context and invites folks to connect in with the Sacred in the way that is meaningful to them.

Let's chat about possibilities.

The foundational aspects of ancestral disconnection mixed with the physiological aspects of what is happening in the body was immensely important and grounding" - Heather, community member

"I feel like I have a full understanding of how to approach the topic of grief and loss with my clients" - Jenny G, Big Brothers, Big Sisters

"This training was grounded in earth and spirit and is inclusive of all faiths with wonderful supportive teaching. It was inspiring, clear and authentic" - Karen, Dharma Center

"Shauna’s vibrancy and authenticity and deep listening skills all serve her well in meeting people where they’re at, and encouraging them along their individual journey. This was one of the best workshops I have ever taken - and I have taken a lot, so I don’t say that lightly!" - Lana Friesen, Healing practitioner, Powell River

"The depth of community building, vulnerability, and safe ritual container in such a short time blew me away. I learned more than imagined due to the exceptional communication skills and balance of the intuitive and cognitive. Shauna's skill as a facilitator and ritualist is unparalleled" - Ash Schoep, Climate Change & Consciousness

"Shauna is a master at creating a safe space in which to explore and heal the difficult emotions - those which our culture and society typically encourage us to avoid. This work is so important" - Lori Race, Mandala Heart Center

I felt very seen, met, held and given the full permission of being with trauma/grief while also learning. Amazing. Shauna's knowledge, awareness, compassion and enthusiasm for this deep work brought our community together in a way it's never known and planted healthy, hopeful seeds for a revolutionary vision in our Valley" - Kris Drummond, Bozeman Renewal Network

"Shauna is a gifted and balanced teacher. Her practical, grounded yet deeply intuitive nature allowed everyone in our group to relate to her in their own way, and she held our ritual container with such safety and support. I feel blessed to have had her as a leader in this work!" - MT, Calgary

"Shauna, you are a true Facilitator. Thank you for your gift of space-holding, your knowledge and experience, your ability to genuinely include everyone in such a graceful and uplifting way... All if it! It was such an honor to be present to this, and each person in the room contributed valuable insights; a sense of community naturally emerged from the evening. Bowing down to these rich times of learning and expansion of our ability to foster the healing ground" - Sally Ross. Fairfield Gonzales Community Association
I am grateful to live and work on the unceded ancestral lands of the Coast Salish Lekwungen-speaking people.
