Grief Support

Where there is sorrow, there is holy ground.
Oscar Wilde

There are many reasons we may find our hearts cracked open - death of a loved one, divorce, loss of a child, ending of a job, change in health or ability, moving, change in relationship, destruction of our natural world/environment, racism/sexism, old traumatic memories emerging to be healed, emotional distressing events that weren't expected or anticipated, and the experience of a lack of social support. I offer holistic support to both individuals and families.

Individuals

Are you questioning?

  • How do I manage day-to-day living when I feel so burdened and over-whelmed with grief (sadness, anger, confusion...)?
  • Is what I am experiencing a normal part of grief?
  • How do I navigate this experience in a healthy and healing way?
  • Why do I feel so misunderstood, even by my close friends and family?
  • Why am I suddenly having spiritual/non-ordinary experiences? What do I do with this?
The process of grief can leave us feeling isolated, misunderstood, confused and wondering if what we are experiencing is normal. Socially, we are often bombarded with unhelpful messages to move on, get over it, and to "hurry" up. We may have grown up believing grief was not something that is ok, or that it is a mental illness, or a sign of maladjustment.

You may find that family, friends and co-workers become distant and awkward, unsure of how to be around you and the pain that you are experiencing. You may find yourself withdrawing or hesitant to talk about your experiences or ask for the support that you need.

You may be experiencing physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual grief "symptoms" that leave you feeling over-whelmed, confused, and devoid of hope or clarity about what to do.

Your grief (and all of you) is welcome here...

I offer grief support sessions to help you:
  • Navigate the day to day "living while grieving"
  • Cultivate meaningful healing strategies
  • Share your loss and pain in a safe, non-judgmental space
  • Honor your grief experiences
  • Transform painful impacts into affirming adjustments to a new world and identity
  • Uncover wisdom and resilience
  • Integrate all parts of your experience towards wholeness
  • Safely navigate spiritual and non-ordinary experiences
Individual support can be in-person at my office, online via Zoom, or by telephone.
Sessions are 60 minutes and cost $100 per session, paid by cash, cheque, Paypal, or email transfer.
I offer a limited amount of sessions on a sliding scale - please inquire about this option if you need.

Families

When loss hits home, sometimes family members can be left struggling with how to relate with each other through such an intense and emotional time. Parents may worry about the well-being of their grieving children, or a spouse may not understand their partner's grief responses to the loss. Breakdown in communication and conflict may happen, adding to the turmoil within the home. Family members may be confused on how to best support each other while also having the time and space for their own emotions.
Each member in a family has a unique grief process and individual needs for healing. The family as a whole also has a grief process and collective needs that require tending. Bringing awareness and support to both is healing for everyone, can resolve unhelpful relational dynamics due to misunderstandings, and offer new strategies for healing and honoring your loss together.
I facilitate family support sessions
Way of Council is a practice of bringing a family or a community of people together in a deeply intentional way to engage in profound life-affirming connection, healing, and authentic communication. This form of gathering people is a wisdom tradition from many cultures around the world.
Using Way of Council practice, therapeutic group process, and ritual facilitation, I bring family members together in an intentional way to share their experiences, to deeply listen to one another, and to gain the support of a larger relational field of spiritual support. I help guide the process, exploring and surfacing individual and family needs that arise from the sharing. Through a dynamic and relational process, family members come to insight, understanding and agreements that contribute to emotional and practical strategies for navigating the loss collectively while honoring the unique healing needs of each.
Family support is offered in the comfort of your own home. Please book a 20 minute consult to discuss.
Family Sessions are 1 hour and 30 minutes and cost $210 per session, paid by cash, cheque, Paypal, or email transfer.
I am grateful to live and work on the unceded ancestral lands of the Coast Salish Lekwungen-speaking people.
